AI and the Labor Market: New Requirements for Workforce Training
As part of the traditional August Conference, a panel session titled “AI and the Labor Market: Knowledge and Competencies Needed for the Future” was held at Nazarbayev University. Sabit Mukhamedzhanuly, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Astana Invest City Investment Development Center, spoke at the session.
The session brought together representatives of Kazakhstan’s and international education, business, and expert communities. Participants discussed workforce training in line with labor market needs, the impact of artificial intelligence on education, and cooperation between businesses and educational institutions.
Sabit Mukhamedzhanuly noted that training specialists who are in demand in today’s labor market should not be the sole responsibility of educational institutions. Effective cooperation between the education sector, business, and investors plays an important role in this area.
Currently, more than 37,000 students are enrolled in colleges in the capital, with over 10,000 participating in the dual education system. This format combines theoretical knowledge with practical training, enabling students to develop hands-on skills that are in demand in the labor market.
At the initiative of Astana Invest, cooperation has been established with the Astana Technological College, ASTANA POLYTECHNIC Higher College, and other educational institutions.
Such partnerships provide students with opportunities to undertake practical training, while enabling employers to participate in the training of the specialists they need.
