Mechanical engineering is one of the dynamically developing branches of the manufacturing industry in Kazakhstan.
The volume of production in the mechanical engineering industry is growing from year to year and in 2022 amounted to 3,114.9 billion tenge. At the same time, the share of mechanical engineering in the manufacturing industry was 15%, and in the entire industry of Kazakhstan - 6.4%.
Among the sub-sectors, 38.5% is accounted for by the automotive industry. In 2022, about 118 thousand units of equipment were produced. Thus, the automotive industry is the driver of the machine-building industry in Kazakhstan.
The share of equipment production, including computers, electronic and optical, electrical and other equipment, amounted to 1.6%
The dynamics of the number of enterprises in the industry over the past five years has seen an increase of 11.4%.
Exports of machine-building products, despite the difficult economic situation, increased by 26% in 2022, amounting to about 809 million US dollars.
The share of exports of machinery, equipment, vehicles, devices and apparatuses in the commodity structure of exports in 2022 amounted to 0.9%.
The investment indicators of the industry continue to grow. Over the past year, the volume of investments in the fixed capital of mechanical engineering amounted to almost 13.1 billion tenge, which is 39.8% higher than in the same period of 2021.
The development of machine building in Kazakhstan is facilitated by state support (at the republican and local executive level) of investments, exports, special conditions for leasing equipment, preferential financial instruments for projects, grants, a program of preferential car loans and other targeted tools.
