As part of implementing the President's instructions on economic diversification, Astana maintains a high pace of entrepreneurship and industrial development. Head of the Department for Investment and Entrepreneurship Development of the Astana City Administration Khalel Akimzhanov reported that logistics and warehousing account for 38.8% of all investments, while industrial growth was 7.6%. The city has 246,000 SMB entities with approximately 560,000 employees. The SMB sector's contribution to the capital's economy has reached 66%, with the sector employing 76% of the economically active population.

"The main leading sectors demonstrating high dynamics are logistics, industry, and traditionally construction. Today, small and medium-sized businesses contribute around 66% of the total gross regional product," noted Khalel Akimzhanov.

In 2026, 26 industrial projects worth 68.4 billion tenge are planned for launch in Astana, creating more than 1,400 jobs. Eight projects worth 32.1 billion tenge have already been commissioned, providing 500 jobs. By year-end, 18 more projects worth 36.3 billion tenge are expected to launch, creating an additional 956 jobs.
