ASTANA INVEST supported the First Forum of Mayors of cities of the Silk Road countries "Global Silk Road"

In July 2018, Astana hosted the First Forum of Mayors of cities of the Silk Road countries "Global Silk Road", bringing together leaders of cities and governments, industry experts to form a new quality of regions/cities.

The forum was attended by Akim of Astana Asset Issekeshev, mayors of cities such as Ufa, Samarkand, Budapest, St. Petersburg and other representatives of international organizations and companies.

The Forum was distinguished by the fact that the humanoid robot Sofia (gynoid), developed by the Hong Kong company Hanson Robotics, became a participant and speaker of the Forum.

The Forum platform provided an opportunity to discuss topical issues of the development of cities of the future, including investments in the creation of smart, sustainable and safe cities, cities with a high level of quality of life and doing business, as well as the exchange of experience in these areas.

Within the framework of the ASTANA INVEST Forum, with the support of the Astana Office for Investment and Entrepreneurship Development, took an active part in promoting investment cooperation between foreign and domestic companies. During the event, agreements were fixed on the implementation of a number of investment projects in Astana, among them projects on:

• introduction of green technologies;
• creation and functioning of a laboratory for DNA diagnostics in the field of medical genetic engineering on the basis of Nazarbayev University;
• the construction of a school based on the experience of the development of the Singapore education system;
• production of high-tech construction materials;
• development of new services for high-quality and professional processing of textiles (workwear) in industry, healthcare and other sectors.
