24 years ago Akmola was declared the capital of Kazakhstan
On October 20, 1997, the Decree of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev "On declaring the city of Akmola the capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan" was issued.
On May 6, 1998, the President of Kazakhstan N.Nazarbayev signed a decree "On renaming the city of Akmola – the capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the city of Astana – the capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan". On March 23, 2019, the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan K. Tokayev "On renaming the city of Astana, the capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan, to the city of Nur-Sultan– the capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan" was issued.
Today, the capital of Kazakhstan – the city of Nur-Sultan occupies:
• 1st place in the share of small and medium-sized businesses in GRP in Kazakhstan;
• 1st place in the place of signing investment contracts in the Republic of Kazakhstan (24 out of 56);
• 1st place in terms of investments in fixed assets for housing construction in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
