The Kazakh data center AKASHI received the Tier IV certification from the Uptime Institute—the most authoritative organization in the industry. It conducts independent technical audits and confirms compliance with international standards.

This achievement places Kazakhstan among the top twenty countries with the highest level of infrastructure reliability for mission-critical digital systems—a level available in only a limited number of countries and represented by a few facilities, AKASHI noted.

Tier IV certification is the highest level in the international classification, confirming complete fault tolerance: no single point of failure and the ability to perform any technical work without interrupting IT systems. The calculated availability at this level is 99.995 percent, the data center representatives explained.

The AKASHI data center is being built in Astana with a phased deployment plan. The project includes four independent units with a total capacity of up to 100 megawatts. The launch of the first phase is scheduled for 2027.

According to the project, 93 percent of the first unit’s capacity is already reserved. The main demand comes from the financial sector, technology companies, and projects related to big data processing.

The growing demand for high-level infrastructure is partly driven by the development of artificial intelligence and increasing reliability requirements for digital services, which operate around the clock and cannot tolerate downtime, AKASHI concluded.
